Just when you think rescue work can’t tug at your heartstrings any harder, it does…
Recently, we welcomed a sweet, beautiful girl into our care. She came to us after a devastating house fire tragically claimed the lives of her mama and littermates. As the sole survivor, she became a tiny beacon of hope amidst the ashes, and so we named her Phoenix.
Phoenix battled a severe URI, which we fortunately treated successfully. 🥳 However, as she begins to play more freely in her foster home, we’ve noticed troubling signs in her front legs. There are concerns about proper joint growth, potentially due to malnutrition and poor health as a newborn. She has an appointment on Monday for a full assessment and care plan. But until then, she is receiving the best care and diet we can provide.
The truth is, we are drowning in the sheer volume of need and the escalating costs. Each treatment, each specialized diet, and each vet visit adds up. Phoenix alone has cost us hundreds of dollars in medical care, and in about two weeks, we will welcome 4 more puppies from the same home. 😭
Additionally, we will spay/neuter the remaining 10 adult dogs on the property at no cost to the owner, ensuring they can be placed into breed-specific (working breed) rescues that will find them safe, responsible homes. While this mission is absolutely crucial, it significantly strains our finances.
Every life we save is precious, but we can’t do it alone. We need your support to continue our work and give these pets the second chance they deserve. Please consider donating, fostering, or adopting. 🙏🏼
